Structural Engineer

To support the company’s growth, we are currently seeking a candidate for the position of Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or a design engineer specializing in structural engineering. Your role will consist of performing the design or verification of various types of structures.

Your responsibilities

• Structural design: Design and analyze commercial, industrial, and residential structures using materials such as steel, concrete, and wood.
• Load assessment: Evaluate gravity, wind, seismic, and other relevant loads to ensure the safety and stability of structures.
• Project coordination: Collaborate with engineers, architects, and other professionals to ensure smooth integration of structural elements within the project.
• Technical reporting: Prepare detailed technical reports on design, analyses, and structural recommendations.
• Regulatory compliance: Ensure that designs comply with building codes (NBC), material standards (CSA S16, CSA A23.3, CSA O86), and applicable local regulations.
• Project management: Actively participate in project management by meeting deadlines, budgets, and quality requirements.
• Research and development: Contribute to innovation by proposing design improvements and keeping up with industry trends.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering.
• Experience: 2–5 years of experience in building structure design (an asset).
• Software skills: Familiarity with the following software (an asset): SAFI, IDEA StatiCa, SolidWorks, Tekla, Microsoft Office Suite.
• Technical knowledge: Good understanding of building codes and industry standards (an asset).
• Languages: French; English is an asset.
